Legacy Leader in STEM Education
A proud graduate of Bishop Kenny High School, Lark Will '77 was deeply influenced by her father, an engineer, who encouraged his family and championed the belief that women have a place in STEM fields. To honor his memory, she established the John J. Will Memorial Science & Technology Scholarship for a female STEM student who plans to pursue a degree in science, technology, engineering, or math. This endowed scholarship ensures that future generations of females will have the opportunity to pursue careers in STEM.
In addition to creating this scholarship, Lark has made a generous bequest to Bishop Kenny High School. This planned gift will expand the endowed scholarship fund and provide even greater support for young women aspiring to excel in STEM disciplines.
Building a Lasting Impact at Bishop Kenny
Eddie and Kara Leonard '84, '90, P'22, P'23 are proud members of a Bishop Kenny legacy family. As alumni of Bishop Kenny, they took great pride in witnessing their sons uphold the family tradition by graduating from the school as well. "Bishop Kenny prepared Eddie and me for our careers and for the success we now see our sons achieving," says Mrs. Leonard. "Catholic education has always been important to our family, and Bishop Kenny provides an excellent foundation for its students. It prepared our family for college and for life." Believing deeply in the school's mission, they chose to make a lasting impact by including Bishop Kenny in their estate plans. Through this bequest, they are delighted to know their gift will continue to make a difference for future generations.
A Legacy of Faith and Education
Pat Tierney dedicated 44 years to Catholic education, including 31 years of service with the Diocese of St. Augustine. During her career, she taught at Bishop Kenny High School before serving as Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese, a role she held until her retirement in 2009. "Bishop Kenny is a wonderful school for Catholic education," says Mrs. Tierney, "preparing its students for both college and life. Bishop Kenny has continued a long tradition of Catholic Education for 73 years. Over these years, the core values of faith, service, as well academic excellence have been entrenched in its mission." Her commitment to faith and learning inspired her to establish the William and Patricia Tierney Scholarship, an endowed fund supporting faith-filled female students who are active in their parish and engaged in community service. As part of her lasting legacy, Mrs. Tierney has included Bishop Kenny High School in her estate plans with a bequest. This gift will provide additional funding for the William and Patricia Tierney Scholarship, ensuring future generations of young women at BK continue to thrive academically and spiritually.
